I understand that my unexpected, yet fruitful absence may have caused some concern, but after overcoming jet lag, I am eager to catch up. I will delve into the reasons for my absence tomorrow, but this morning I wish to express my thoughts on the recent tragic events outside a Manhattan courthouse.

According to updates from the NYPD and various news outlets, Max Azzarello, 37, a conspiracy theorist from Florida, used an “alcohol-based cleaning substance” to set himself on fire after dispersing “propaganda-based” flyers. One flyer claimed, “NYU is a mob front,” listing several accusations of misconduct against the institution.

Little is known of this person, since access to his social media are now being investigated and purged by officials. Be that as it may, it is but one more example why a conspiracy theory can pose a serious threat to society with its misguided and outlandish claims.

Conspiracy theorists often promote alternative explanations that challenge mainstream narratives which do not have the benefit of verifiable sources and scientific analysis. While some theories may evoke critical thinking, many flourish to only sow confusion and discourse.

Although it’s important to scrutinize narratives with a discerning eye, conspiracy theorists rarely seek information from reliable sources. This recent tragic event outside a Manhattan courthouse only serves to underscore the dangers associated with extreme conspiracy theories.

Some favorite topics for conspiracy theorists:

  1. 9/11 Attacks were a conspiracy
  2. Flat Earthers
  3. The Moon Landing Hoax
  4. Vaccination/Big Pharma Conspiracy
  5. Chemtrails
  6. New World Order
  7. CIA and Mind Control
  8. Paul McCartney Is Dead
  9. The Illuminati

Witnessing personal paranoia being manipulated to support conspiracy theorists can indeed be infuriating. It underscores the importance of critical thinking and media literacy. People should be encouraged to seek out credible and authoritative sources for information, rather than relying on unverified or discredited sources.

This man’s paranoia, fueled by nonsense and manifesting into a psychotic madness, sadly concludes with his own fiery death. Such a senseless loss.
